Bartlett from men's track & field, Allaire from women's swimming & diving honored
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Two Plymouth State University student-athletes were recognized by the Little East Conference (LEC) for their performances over the last week.
Junior men's indoor track & field middle distance runner Warren Bartlett (Loudon, N.H.) was named the LEC Men's Indoor Track & Field Track Athlete of the Week, while sophomore diver Casey Allaire (Mattapoisett, Mass.) was named LEC Diver of the Week.
Bartlett was spectacular in his primary event during Saturday's inaugural Branwen Smith-King Invitational hosted by Tufts University at the Gantcher Center. The junior posted a personal best time to win the 1000-meter run. His time of 2:31.00 was almost a half-second ahead of the second place finisher. This is Bartlett's first weekly honor.
Allaire continued her remarkable season by sweeping both diving events for the eighth time this season. She scored 222.35 points on the 1-meter board and accumulated 229.30 points on the 3-meter board to keep her season-long unbeaten streak alive. Allaire has been named Diver of the Week each of the last three weeks and this is her fifth award overall.
The indoor track & field teams are back in action on Saturday at the Wesleyan Invitational, though Bartlett will run at the Tufts Cupid Challenge with some of the region's top performers.
Allaire and the rest of the swimming & diving team will also be in action on Saturday, competing for the Little East Conference Championship at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
