In-state rivals will meet next week
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The recent ice storm has left the baseball and softball fields at Keene State College in unplayable conditions, forcing the baseball and softball games between the Owls and Plymouth State University to be moved.
Both teams had been scheduled to play today, with softball playing a doubleheader and baseball a single game.
The softball twin bill will now be played on Sunday (Apr. 22) with games set for 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. The games will come in the middle of a stretch of three straight Little East Conference (LEC) doubleheaders for the Panthers. Plymouth State also hosts Eastern Connecticut State University on Saturday (Apr. 21) and the University of Southern Maine on Tuesday (Apr. 24). PSU is currently tied with Eastern Connecticut atop the LEC standings with a 5-1 mark.
The baseball game has been pushed to Monday (Apr. 23) with first pitch set for 3:30 p.m. The teams will now play a home-and-home series on consecutive days, as Keene is scheduled to play at Panther Park on Tuesday (Apr. 24). The games are part of a stretch of eight consecutive conference games for the Panthers, who are currently tied for fourth in the league with a 2-2 record.
