PSU Baseball, Softball players earn LEC weekly honors

Brown and Miller both recognized as Pitchers of the Week

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Sophomores Tyler Brown (Littleton, N.H.) and Caitlyn Miller (Lee, N.H.) were both recognized by the Little East Conference (LEC) after outstanding performances on the diamond last week.

Brown was named Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the first time, while Miller earned Softball Pitcher of the Week honors for the fourth time.

Brown was outstanding in his lone appearance of the week, tossing six scoreless innings as the Panthers topped #4/#5 University of Massachusetts Boston, 6-2, in the second game of an LEC doubleheader at Panther Park on Saturday. It was PSU's first win over the Beacons since the 2014 season. Brown allowed just three hits and a pair of walks while striking out four to improve to 2-1 on the year.

Miller won both of her starts last week, throwing a pair of complete games without allowing an earned run. She allowed just three base hits and a pair of unearned runs as PSU topped the University of Southern Maine, 3-2, on Tuesday to clinch the right to host this week's LEC Tournament. On Saturday she scattered five hits while striking out three as the Panthers blanked Western Connecticut State University, 2-0. She didn't allow a baserunner over the final three innings. The win secured Plymouth's first outright regular season title.

The Panther softball team kicks off the LEC Tournament on Thursday. PSU faces sixth-seeded University of Massachusetts Boston at D&M Park with first pitch scheduled for 10:00 a.m.

PSU baseball is at home on Wednesday for a single game against New England College. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
