Little East Conference announces inaugural Team Academic Award recipients

Panthers' Softball, Women's Lacrosse teams named winners

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Little East Conference (LEC) announced the recipients of its inaugural Team Academic Award on Thursday and a pair of Plymouth State University athletics programs were among those to be honored.

Plymouth State's softball and women's lacrosse teams were both recognized as LEC Team Academic Award winners after posting the highest team grade point averages (GPA) among conference members over the 2019-20 academic year.

The LEC Team Academic Award is presented to the team with the highest GPA for each of the conference's 19 championship sports. Due to a variety of grading options considered among league members during the spring semester as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, only fall semester grades were considered for this year.

The softball team posted a 3.60 team GPA to top its league counterparts, while women's lacrosse put together an equally impressive semester in the classroom with a 3.52. In addition to the two winners, Plymouth State also had two other sports (men's basketball and men's indoor track & field) finish just 0.01 behind the winner.

The full list of winners by sport, along with Plymouth State's team GPAs, appears below.
