On the weekend of August 27 and 28, Tropical Storm Irene drenched New Hampshire with several inches of rain. In Plymouth, the Pemigiwasset River went over its banks on Sunday evening and into Monday morning, leaving Route 175A, one of the main routes from Interstate 93 into the town of Plymouth, under several feet of water. Plymouth State University buildings and athletic fields were also underwater.
By Tuesday, August 30, the waters had receded and cleanup begun. On that day, PSU also celebrated the return of students to campus for the 2011-2012 academic year.
Here are some links with images and videos documenting the situation.
