Panthers gearing up for 2012 campaigns
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The official start to summer isn’t here yet, but the Plymouth State University athletic programs already have an eye on autumn.
With the PSU fall sports season about three months away, the Panther schedules are now available on the school’s athletics website at athletics.plymouth.edu.
All six Panther fall programs will officially begin their 2012 campaigns on the road over Labor Day weekend. The field hockey and two Panther soccer teams will be in tournament action, with men’s soccer competing at the ECAC Division III Classic on Cape Cod, the women participating in the Colby-Sawyer College Tournament and the field hockey squad playing in the Zenaty Invitational at Springfield College. The PSU women’s volleyball team will play three matches at the Wheaton College Quad, the women’s tennis squad visits the University of Southern Maine for a Little East Conference match, and the football team travels to Castleton State College for a non-conference encounter.
The PSU women’s tennis and men’s soccer teams are the first to play at home this fall, beginning on Wednesday, Sept. 5, followed by football and women’s soccer games on Saturday, Sept. 8.
The Plymouth State football team will be out to capture a New England Football Conference championship, while the other five Panther programs will be seeking Little East Conference titles. PSU is the defending regular season champion in women’s volleyball.
