Panthers gearing up for 2013 campaigns
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The official start to summer isn’t here yet, but the Plymouth State University athletic programs already have an eye on autumn.
With the PSU fall sports season about three months away, the Panther schedules are now available on the school’s athletics website at athletics.plymouth.edu.
This fall will mark a new era in PSU Athletics as the men’s and women’s cross country programs begins their first seasons as varsity sports. The Panther football team also begins its first season as a member of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) after two stints in the New England Football Conference (1971-91, 2006-12) and one in the Freedom Football Conference (1992-2003).
Most of the Panther fall programs will officially begin their 2013 campaigns the weekend of September 6-8. The field hockey and women’s volleyball teams will be in tournament action, with the field hockey squad playing in the Zenaty Invitational at Springfield College and the volleyball team competing at the Endicott Invitational. The men’s soccer teams kicks off on Sept. 7 at Colby-Sawyer College, while the football and women’s tennis teams make their debuts on home on Sept. 7 vs. Castleton State College and the University of Southern Maine, respectively.
The Panther women’s soccer team opens play on Sept. 12 at Fisher College, and the cross country runners compete in their first race on September 14 at the University of New England.
