PSC falls twice to Bethel
FORT MYERS, Florida - Plymouth State College's baseball team dropped to 0-4 on its spring trip with a doubleheader loss to Bethel College (Minn.) Tuesday, losing 4-1 and 5-3.
The Panthers were unable to convert a strong pitching performance by junior Nate Provencher (Wilton, N.H.) in the first game. Provencher allowed no earned runs and just three hits in seven innings but suffered the loss (0-1) as PSC committed five errors. Senior Dakota Smith (Rochester, N.H.) and sophomore Matt Price (Epping, N.H.) led the Panther offense with two hits apiece.
The PSC bats hammered out eight hits in the nightcap, but came up empty again. Sophomore Scott Hodsdon (Somersworth, N.H.) and freshman Rob Burr (Concord, N.H.) each had two hits, and Price and sophomore Sy Tebbetts (Hollis, N.H.) added RBI singles. Sophomore Jonathan Rich (Londonderry, N.H.) suffered the loss (0-1) for PSC.
Plymouth State is back in action Thursday (Mar. 22) with a doubleheader against Elmhurst College (2 p.m.). Bethel is now 9-2-1 overall.
