KEENE, N.H. - The Keene State College baseball team defeated rival Plymouth State College 7-3 Tuesday in a Little East Conference game at Owls Stadium Complex.

It was the third straight win for Keene State (11-10, 7-3 LEC). Plymouth State, which is beginning a string of eight games in six days, falls to 4-17 (2-8 LEC).

After PSC went ahead 1-0 on an RBI double by Scott Hodsdon (Somersworth, N.H.) in the top of the fifth, the Owls took the lead for good with three runs in the bottom of the inning. Keith Jacobson and Travis Muckle delivered back-to-back RBI doubles. KSC added four more runs in the seventh with Jacobson and Josh Coughlin getting run-producing hits and two runners scoring on wild pitches.

The Panthers got two runs back in the ninth on a sacrifice fly by Dakota Smith (Rochester, N.H.) and an RBI single from Jay Zinis (Manchester, N.H.), but Owl reliever Buzzy Francis struck out Rob Burr (Concord, N.H.) with the bases loaded to preserve the win.

Andrew Cuthbertson, who came on to relieve KSC starter Jeff Gilpatrick, got credit for the win. Junior Jeff Morgan (Laconia, N.H.) struck out nine but took the loss for the Panthers.

KSC defeated the Panthers 9-8 earlier this season in Providence.

Plymouth State plays back to back home games Wednesday (Apr. 25) vs. Salem State (3:30 p.m.) and Thursday (Apr. 26) in a make-up against New England College (3:00 p.m.). Then the Panthers play another make-up contest Friday (Apr. 27) at Saint Michael's before trekking to Danbury, Conn., for a Saturday (Apr. 28) LEC twinbill at Western Conn. (12:00 p.m.) The rugged week wraps up Sunday (Apr. 29) with a home doubleheader against Castleton State (1:00 p.m.)
