Keene State comes back to defeat PSU Baseball
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Sophomore Greg Ford (Nashua, N.H.) hit a single, double and home run and knocked in four funs Wednesday afternoon to lead Keene State College to a 9-2 victory over rival Plymouth State University in a Little East Conference baseball game at Panther Park.
Ford's homer, his fifth of the season, capped a three-run rally in the fifth inning and gave the Owls the lead after PSU had gone ahead 2-0. Ford added a sacrifice fly in a five-run seventh inning and finished off KSC's scoring with an RBI double in the eighth.
KSC's 15-hit attack made a winner out of junior Jake Tenney (Surry, N.H.), who allowed seven hits, two walks and two earned runs over seven innings. Keene State, ranked No. 1 in New England, improves to 3-0 in LEC play and 15-4 overall, while PSU dipped to 6-11 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
Seniors C.J. Rousseau (Merrimack, N.H.) and Scott Begalle (Rumney, N.H.) led the Panthers with two hits apiece.
PSU, which is in the middle of a string with 11-out-of-12 games at home, is slated for a single non-conference game Thursday at Becker College (3:30 p.m.) and a home LEC doubleheader Saturday against Eastern Connecticut (12:00 p.m.). KSC plays its next six games at home, including Thursday against Mass. College of Liberal Arts (3:30 p.m.) and an LEC twinbill Saturday vs. Rhode Island College (12:00 p.m.)
