Levandowski singled in freshman Grant Livington (Niantic, Conn.) to tie the game at two in the top of the third inning.

PSU added a run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Pogorzelski, but it wasn't enough as senior Jack Britton (Carmel, Calif.) earned the save with two innings of scoreless work. Junior Steve Shortle (Rutland, Vt.) picked up the win, allowing two runs over four innings. Senior John Lanahan (Jacksonville, Fla.) had a 3-for-4 day with a double and triple, Broughton ended the game 2-5 with three RBI, while freshman Donald McKillop (Poway, Calif.) had a pair of hits for the winners.
