Eagles soar past Panthers with seventh-inning rally
NASHUA, N.H. – A bases-load walk by Darrik Marstaller (Spofford, N.H.) and a sacrifice fly from Kyle Brigham (Hudson, N.H.) pushed across the go-ahead runs in the bottom of the seventh inning Wednesday and host Daniel Webster College held off Plymouth State University, 9-7 in a baseball matchup of intrastate foes at blustery Harvey Woods Field.
Both Marstaller and Brigham had two hits on the day with Brigham knocking in two runs while Joe Morin (Pelham, N.H.) went 2 for 4 knocking in two as the Eagles came back from deficits of 3-1 and 7-6 to improve to 8-5 overall and topped the Panthers (10-8) for the second straight season.
Steve Beard (Middleton, Mass.), Jake Broom (New London, N.H.) and Rob Madonna (Cranston, R.I.) had two hits apiece for the Panthers with Madonna knocking in two. Brian Thompson (Southington, Conn.) added a pair of RBI.
