PSU Baseball makes debut appearance in NEIBA poll

Panthers ninth in New England in latest rankings

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) released its second weekly poll of the 2018 season on Monday and Plymouth State University made its first appearance of the year.

Following a run of four straight wins the Panthers (9-5) hold the ninth spot in this week's rankings.

Little East Conference (LEC) rival University of Massachusetts Boston collected all six first place votes and is the top team in the region with 48 points. Mitchell College (32) and the University of Southern Maine (24) round out the top three. Plymouth State had ten points to sit one point behind Keene State College and Western New England University, which were tied for seventh.

The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth is the fifth LEC team in the poll, holding the sixth spot with 16 points. PSU swept the Corsairs in Dartmouth, Mass. on Saturday (11-1, 6-3).

The Panthers have relied on aggressive base running to get out to a quick start. PSU leads the nation with 4.17 steals per game and the team has twice set the program record this season already, most recently swiping 12 bags in an 11-4 win over Lyndon State College on Mar. 28.

Plymouth State is set to travel to Bates College for a single, non-conference game on Wednesday (Apr. 4). First pitch is set for 4:00 p.m.
