Marique named Co-Pitcher of the Week

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – After an impressive debut appearance on the mound, a member of the Plymouth State University baseball team has been honored by the Little East Conference (LEC).

Freshman Richie Marique (Derry, N.H.) was selected as the LEC Co-Pitcher of the Week after a strong showing in his first collegiate start.

Marique toed the rubber for the first time last Friday (Mar. 6), striking out nine over five innings of one-hit baseball to earn his first career win (1-0) in an 11-0 victory over Finlandia University. The Lions put two runners on with one down in the first on a walk and single, but Marique struck out the next two batters to escape the jam. He struck out two in the second and fourth innings as well, before capping his day by striking out the side in the fifth.

Plymouth State (4-1) has won all four of its games at the Gene Cusic Classic during the team's annual spring break trip to Florida and is in action today against FDU-Florham and Wittenberg.
