Clay Jenkins is in his fourth season as head baseball coach at Plymouth State in 2019, and his eighth season with the PSU baseball program. Jenkins took over the head coaching role after the 2015 season following five years as PSU pitching coach.
The Panthers posted a 20-22 record in Jenkins' first season in 2016, setting several program records along the way. PSU established new team standards for stolen bases in a game and season and pitching strikeouts in a season, and individual marks for doubles in a game and season, and stolen bases in a game and season.
In 2017 PSU finished an even .500 with a 19-19 mark, though the Panthers finished just one win shy of qualifying for the Little East Conference Tournament.
Plymouth State made a return trip to the LEC Tournament in 2018, the programs tenth overall and the second in three years under Jenkins. PSU finished the season with a 16-19 overall record.
From 2011-2014, Jenkins helped lead the pitching staff from a 6.56 team earned run average to a 3.63 team ERA. The team qualified for multiple LEC Tournament appearances, including a conference tournament championship game for the first time in school history.
A native of Easton, N.H., Jenkins was a standout pitcher at Profile High School and then Franklin Pierce University. Among the all-time leaders in both single season and career appearances, Jenkins brings not only experience, but a strategic mind-set to the Panther baseball program.
