PSU Competitive Cheer in first place at JamFest Nationals

Panthers will perform Sunday in second half of event

LOWELL, Mass. – The Plymouth State University competitive cheer team is in first place in the Elite Division 2 for All-Girls Collegiate Cheer after the Panthers' first performance Saturday at a JAMfest Nationals Series Event held at The Tsongas Center.

The Panthers received a team score of 75.20 for Saturday's effort, which included a 2 ½ minute routine of choreographed tumbling, stunting and dance.  PSU will compete again on Sunday, with the two scores combined to give the team a final score.

JAMfest Cheer and Dance events are held around the country all year long, and include many teams from all levels of dance and cheer.  This is Plymouth State's first year as a competitive cheer team after many years as a sideline cheerleading squad.

PSU head coach Erin Boylan was pleased with the performance of the team.

"We did well," said Boylan. "We were much cleaner and sharper than last week, and we showed more enthusiasm.  We still have a couple of things to work on for tomorrow, but we had a much better effort today."
