PLYMOUTH, N.H. -- A pair of Plymouth State College football players have been honored for their performances in the Panthers' final regular season game Saturday, a tough 9-7 loss at WPI's snow-covered Alumni Field in Worcester, Mass.
Senior defensive tackle Joe Attubato (Saugus, MA) was selected to the ECAC New England Weekly Honor Roll, and senior running back Jose Raymond (Wakefield, MA) was picked to the Freedom Football Conference Weekly Honor Roll.
Attubato, a 6'1", 245-pound captain, was a standout for the PSC defense in the snow. He made eight tackles (six unassisted), including one of PSC's two sacks, and two pass break-ups. He completed the season as PSC's fourth-leading tackler with 26 stops, along with five sacks, 10 tackles for loss, and two break-ups in nine games.
Raymond, a 5'4", 183-pound running back, clinched the FFC rushing title with a 96-yard performance in Saturday's "Snow-Bowl." He scored PSC's only touchdown with 3:50 left in the game to give the Panthers the go-ahead touchdown, his 12th TD of the season. Raymond finishes the season with 904 yards on 213 carries (4.2 avg.) for a league-leading 90.4 yard average per game.
Plymouth State, making its ninth trip to the ECAC post-season, will meet the Bengals of Buffalo State this Saturday (Nov. 22) at 12 noon in the ECAC Division III Northwest Championship game. The Bengals, 7-2, are the top seed from the Upstate New York Region and earned the right to host the No. 2 seed from New England, which in this case, is the 7-3 Panthers.
