PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Two Plymouth State College football players have received recognition from the Freedom Football Conference for their individual performances in last Saturday's 28-13 defeat at Kings Point, PSC's first loss of the season.

Freshman linebacker Kevin Chandler (Berwick, ME) was chosen FFC Rookie of the Week, and junior linebacker Robb Benjamin (Gloucester, MA) was picked to the Weekly Honor Roll. It is the first conference weekly honor for both players.

Chandler made the most of his first start of the season, registering a team-high 13 tackles (eight unassisted). He also registered a sack for a three-yard loss. Chandler is now tied for third on the team in tackles with 25, including 15 unassisted, two for lost yardage, one sack and one pass break-up.

Benjamin has also moved into the starting line-up after beginning the season as a reserve. He recorded nine total tackles, including eight unassisted and one sack for an eight-yard loss. Benjamin also recovered a Kings Point fumble, and he picked off a Mariner pass in the third quarter on the play immediately following a Kings Point interception. Benjamin is tied for third on the team with 25 tackles, including 14 unassisted stops, two for lost yardage, one sack, one INT, and two fumble recoveries.

PSC, 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the FFC, dropped to #5 in this week's ECAC Division III New England poll. The Panthers are in third place in the conference behind Springfield (5-0, 3-0) and Kings Point (4-1, 3-1).

Plymouth State will play a FFC road game for the third straight week this Saturday (Oct. 17) on the turf at Springfield College (1:30 p.m.). The Pride have been ranked #1 in the ECAC New England poll since the second week of the season, and have outscored their opponents 230-100 in their five games, 137-55 in the three FFC encounters. The Panthers finally return to Currier Field next Saturday (Oct. 24) to host Bentley College (12:00 p.m.) in the Family Weekend game (WMUR-TV).
