PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Two members of the Plymouth State College football team were on the receiving end of weekly honors handed out by the Freedom Football Conference following last Saturday's loss to Springfield College.
PSC junior LB Chris Kelliher (Goffstown, NH/Trinity) was selected FFC Defensive Player of the Week, and junior RB Russ Massahos (Windham, N.H.) was named to the FFC Weekly Honor Roll. Kelliher was on the FFC Honor Roll last week, and Massahos received the same honor once last month.
A 6'0", 200-pound linebacker, Kelliher registered a PSC-season-high 20 tackles in the 42-26 decision at Springfield. He made one tackle for loss (-2 yards) and recovered a fumble that set up PSC's first touchdown of the second half. Kelliher leads the Panthers and ranks second in the conference in total tackles (11.8 per game) and is fourth in tackles for lost yardage (1.33 per game). He is also fourth in the FFC in fumbles (0.67 per game), having recovered three and forced one.
A 5'10", 210-pound halfback, Massahos returned to the line-up after missing one game due to injury and registered 129 yards from scrimmage. He rushed 13 times for 59 yards and one touchdown, and caught a team-high eight passes for 70 yards and a TD. Massahos ranks among the LEC leaders in four categories - sixth in rushing (76.8 yds/gm) and scoring (5.2 pts/gm), fifth in receptions (3.4 rec/gm), and seventh in all-purpose yards (109.2 yds/gm).
After three consecutive FFC road games, PSC returns to Currier Field Saturday (Oct. 21) for the Homecoming game against Bentley College. The non-conference affair begins at 12 noon, and will be televised live on WMUR-TV in Manchester, N.H.
