More FFC Honors for Kelliher & Massahos
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - A pair of juniors on the Plymouth State College football team were honored by the Freedom Football Conference for the third straight week for their performances in last Saturday's game.
PSC junior LB Chris Kelliher (Goffstown, NH/Trinity) was selected FFC Defensive Player of the Week, and junior RB Russ Massahos (Windham, N.H.) was named to the FFC Weekly Honor Roll. This is the fourth straight week that Kelliher has been recognized by the FFC, including his second Player of the Week honor in three weeks, and Massahos is on the Honor Roll for the fourth time this season.
Kelliher and Massahos were instrumental in leading PSC to a 25-7 FFC victory over Coast Guard last Saturday, stopping the team's four-game losing skid.
A 6'0", 200-pound linebacker, Kelliher led the team in tackles for the fourth consecutive week, making 14 stops. He made nine unassisted tackles, including three for minus yardage and one sack as PSC held Coast Guard to 192 total yards, only 69 in the second half. Kelliher leads the FFC in total tackles (12.1 per game), and ranks second in tackles for loss (1.50 per game) and third in fumbles (.50 per game with three recoveries and one forced).
A 5'10", 210-pound halfback, Massahos registered a career-high 207 yards rushing with one touchdown (a career-best 78-yard burst) against the Bears. In three career games against Coast Guard, he has a pair of 200-yard rushing games, totaling 604 yards on the ground with nine touchdowns. Massahos is among the conference leaders in rushing (95.3 yds/gm), receptions (3.4 rec/gm), scoring (5.4 pts/gm) and all-purpose yards (123.0 yds/gm).
The Panthers return to Currier Field for their final two games of the season, beginning this Saturday (Nov. 4) against winless Mount Ida (12 noon).
