PSU Football player honored
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - A defensive end on the Plymouth State University football team was honored Monday for his efforts in the Panthers' season-opening loss to UMass Dartmouth last Saturday.
Senior Eric Lawless (Plymouth, Mass.) was named to the FFC Weekly Honor Roll after leading the Panther defense against UMD. Despite Lawless' performance, Plymouth State was handed a 29-0 setback in the debut of new head coach Paul Castonia.
A 5'11", 215-pound end, Lawless recorded 10 tackles to lead the Panthers, including seven unassisted stops. He also registered one tackle for loss. Lawless is a starting defensive end after making 24 tackles as a reserve last season.
PSU, 0-1, will look for its first victory of the season this Saturday when the Panthers host William Paterson University in a non-conference contest at Currier Field (1:00 pm.).
