PSU Football players honored by FFC
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Two running backs on the Plymouth State University football team were honored Monday by the Freedom Football Conference for their efforts in the Panthers' 43-7 loss to Southern Connecticut State University last Saturday.
Freshman Dan Fortier (Salem, N.H.) was named the FFC Rookie of the Week, and senior Jason Bordas (Elmore, Vt.) was named to the FFC Weekly Honor Roll. They helped PSU roll up a season-high 253 yards rushing against a tough Division II opponent.
A 5'5", 170-pound running back, Fortier gained 91 yards on 16 carries against the Owls for a 5.7 yard average. He had 31 yards on three carries on PSU's fourth-quarter scoring drive, including a season-best 19-yard run. Fortier leads the team in rushing this season with 306 net yards.
A 5'10", 206-pound running back and team captain, Bordas rushed for 70 yards on 13 carries for a 5.4-yard average. He scored PSU's only touchdown on a seven-yard burst in the fourth quarter. Bordas spearheaded the scoring drive with 44 yards on four carries, including rushes of 19, 11, 7 and 7 yards. Bordas is second on the team in rushing with 215 yards.
Plymouth State concludes the season this Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. Freedom Football Conference contest at WPI in Worcester, Mass.
