William Paterson blanks Plymouth State Football

PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Senior Prince Breeden (Jersey City, N.J.) rushed for 114 yards and two touchdowns Saturday afternoon to lead William Paterson University to a 17-0 victory over Plymouth State University in a non-conference football game at Currier Field.

Breeden led a WPU attack that rolled up 384 yards of offense. He carried 28 times, scoring on a 25-yard run on the Pioneers' first possession in the first quarter, and adding a five-yard burst midway through the second quarter to put his team up 14-0. Sophomore wide receiver Kareen Moon (Staten Island, N.Y.) was also a strong contributor for the Pioneers, catching seven passes for 136 yards.

Junior Damian Shaddow (Trenton, N.J.) kicked both extra points and added a 23-yard field goal late in the second quarter to give the visitors a 17-0 halftime advantage. That turned out to be the final scoring on the afternoon.

Freshman QB Sean Ryan (Rutherford, N.J.) anchored the WPU offense, completing 16-of-28 passes for 232 yards. Junior Andy Howell (Schuykill, N.Y.) led the Pioners' defense, making 10 tackles (six unassisted), including a sack.

The Panthers could muster only 136 yards of total offense. Sophomore tight end Adam Long (Plymouth, Mass.) caught three passes for 47 yards.

Junior DB Dan Fallon (Manchester, N.H./Central) led the PSU defense in tackles for the third week in a row, making 10 tackles (six unassisted). Juniors Jeff Ethier (North Attleboro, Mass.) and Tim Butler (Concord, Mass.) each contributed seven tackles, with Ethier making four stops in the Pioneers' backfield.

PSU, 1-2, plays its next two games on the road, beginning next Saturday at Norwich (2:00 p.m.) William Paterson, 1-2, is idle next Saturday before visiting New Jersey Athletic Conference rival Kean on Saturday, Oct. 1.
