Plymouth State Football player named ECAC Defensive Player of the Week

PLYMOUTH, N.H. - The leading tackler on the Plymouth State University football team has been recognized by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) for his outstanding performance in a Panther game last Saturday.

Junior safety Dan Fallon (Manchester, N.H./Central) was selected ECAC Division III Northeast Defensive Player of the Week. He was recognized after his efforts in PSU's 33-13 setback to Springfield College three days ago.

A 5-9, 181-pound co-captain, Fallon (left) continued his outstanding season, leading the team with 12 tackles against Springfield (11 unassisted). He recovered two fumbles, setting up PSU's first TD with the first and returning the second one 42 yards for a TD.

PSU's leading tackler each of the past two seasons, Fallon has a team-high 59 tackles in seven games this season, including 46 unassisted stops, two interceptions, four pass break-ups, and two fumble recoveries. He was the Freedom Football Conference Rookie of the Year in 2003.

Fallon is the fourth PSU player to receive weekly recognition from the ECAC this season. Freshman DB Kynan Mello (Beverly, Mass.) was named to the ECAC Weekly Honor Roll following PSU's 14-7 win over UMass Dartmouth on Sept. 10, and junior DT Jeff Ethier (North Attleboro, Mass.) and junior TB Kyle Clark (Bradford, N.H.) were both honored following PSU's 31-8 victory over Becker on Oct. 8, Ethier as Co-Defensive Player of the Week and Clark on the Weekly Honor Roll.
