Plymouth State Football player named to NEFC Weekly Honor Roll
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - One of the top offensive players on the Plymouth State University football team was recognized Monday with selection to the New England Football Conference Weekly Honor Roll, his second such selection this season.
Sophomore back John DeMarco (Milford, N.H.) was PSU's representative on this week's NEFC Honor Roll. He was one of the standouts in PSU's 27-7 victory over Salve Regina in the season finale last Saturday at Currier Field. DeMarco earned the same honor following PSU's first game of the season in September.
A 6'1", 200-pound quarterback, DeMarco (left) rushed 21
times for 98 yards and one touchdown, a 15-yard sprint into the
left corner of the end zone in the closing seconds of the first
half that evened the score at 7-7 at the break. He also completed
6-of-9 passes for 86 yards and one touchdown, a 39-yarder early in
the third quarter that the Panthers ahead for good. DeMarco put up
his totals despite playing only the second and third quarters,
yielding the first and last quarters to his senior teammate who was
playing in his final game.
The Panthers wrapped up the season with a 4-5 overall record, and finished tied for third in the Boyd Division of the NEFC, with PSU, Nichols and UMass Dartmouth all with 4-3 divisional marks. Curry captured the Boyd Division title with a 7-0 record, ahead of runner-up Nichols (5-2), and will host Bogan Division champion Coast Guard this Saturday for the NEFC Championship and the conference's automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament.
