PLYMOUTH, N.H. - For the fourth week in a row, the starting quarterback on the Plymouth State University football team was recognized by the New England Football Conference for his performance in a Panther victory.
Junior John DeMarco (Milford, N.H./Milford) was named to the NEFC Weekly Honor Roll on Monday after guiding the Panthers to a 30-0 Boyd Division victory last Saturday over Nichols College. He was also the NEFC Offensive Co-Player of the Week two weeks ago and was on the NEFC Honor Roll on Sept. 24 and again last Monday.
A 6'1", 220-pound quarterback, DeMarco (right) rushed for 113 yards on 14 attempts (8.1 avg.) and scored two touchdowns against Nichols, and completed 5-of-8 passes for 95 yards. His first TD was a 38-yard scramble midway through the first quarter that put the Panthers up 14-0, and he added a two-yard sneak early in the third quarter that gave PSU a 23-0 lead and control of the contest.
DeMarco continues to lead the 16-team NEFC in passing efficiency (184.0), with season totals of 35-for-66 (57.6 percent), 790 yards, seven TDs and three INTs. He has also rushed for 343 yards (4.5 avg.) and a team-high nine touchdowns, which is tied for second in the NEFC in scoring.
The Panthers, ranked third this week in the New England Division III poll, have won their first six games for the seventh time in school history and the first time since back-to-back 9-0 seasons in 1994 and 1995.
PSU continues NEFC Boyd Division play this Saturday with a pivotal game at Curry College (12:00 p.m.) The Colonels (7-0, 4-0) are the four-time defending NEFC champions and currently ranked #1 in New England.
