PSU Football players named to NEFC Weekly Honor Roll
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Two members of the Plymouth State University football team were recognized Monday with selection to the first New England Football Conference Weekly Honor Roll of the season.
Senior tailback Jeff Mack (Milford, N.H./Milford) and sophomore defensive end Matt MacLean (Abington, Mass./Abington) were PSU's representatives on this week's NEFC Honor Roll. They were two of the key players in PSU's 36-28 season-opening victory over Saint Anselm College last Saturday at Currier Field.
A 5'11", 215-pound back, Mack (right) rushed 27 times for
204 yards and two touchdowns, finishing just three yards short of
his career high. He ran for 27 yards on PSU's first play from
scrimmage, and scored on a 38-yard burst on PSU's third offensive
play. He added a three-yd TD run with 30 seconds left in the
3rd quarter to make it 29-14, PSU.
A 6'2", 219-pound lineman, MacLean (left) made the most of
his first career start, finishing with a team-high nine
tackles. He made six unassisted stops, including a
fourth-quarter sack for a loss of eight yards with Saint Anselm
driving in PSU territory. MacLean made eight tackles and
one-half sack in nine games as a freshman last season.
The Panthers, who have won eight straight road games and 12 of their last 13 overall, hit the road for their next two contests. PSU visits Mount Ida College this Saturday at 1:00 p.m. for a non-conference match-up, and travels to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in two weeks for an NEFC cross-over game.
