PSU Football player named to NEFC Weekly Honor Roll
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - The quarterback on the Plymouth
State University football team was honored by the New England
Football Conference Monday for his performance in last Saturday's
34-16 non-conference victory over Mount Ida College.
Junior J.J. Brooks (Seabrook, N.H./Winnacunnet) was Plymouth State's representative on the NEFC Weekly Honor Roll. He was a top performer both on the ground and through the air Saturday to help PSU to its 13th consecutive home victory.
A 6'1", 218-pound QB, Brooks (right) completed 8-of-9 passes for
154 yards and a touchdown while also running for a pair of
scores. He scored on rushing plays of five and three yards in
the first half to give PSU leads of 7-0 and 14-7, and his 15-yard
scoring strike to junior John Creamer (Abington,
Mass.) gave PSU a 27-16 lead late in the third quarter.
Brooks completed his first seven passes in the game until a
fourth-quarter incompletion.
The Panthers, 1-1 overall, will host Coast Guard this Saturday at Currier Field (1:00 p.m.) in the NEFC cross-over game. Each team in the NEFC Boyd Division will face a team from the Bogan Division in games that could be used in tiebreakers situations later in the season. Boyd Division teams won five of the eight cross-over games last season.
