Another NEFC weekly honor for PSU quarterback
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - The starting quarterback on the
Plymouth State University football team continues to collect weekly
honors from the New England Football Conference, as he did Monday
for his performance in last Saturday's 48-30 Boyd Division victory
over Nichols College.
Junior J.J. Brooks (Seabrook, N.H./Winnacunnet H.S.) was named to the NEFC Weekly Honor Roll. It is the fifth time in seven weeks that Brooks has been honored by the NEFC, including once as Offensive Player of the Week.
A 6'1", 225-pound quarterback, Brooks
(right) completed all nine of his passes for 225
yards and two touchdowns last Saturday, leading PSU to 48 points
and 478 yards of total offense. Brooks, who also ran for 49
yards, connected on a 21-yard TD pass to junior John
Creamer (Hanover, Mass./Abington H.S.) in the second
quarter and sealed the win with a 69-yard TD strike to senior
Alex Smith (Walpole, Mass.) midway through the
third quarter.
Brooks, who was PSU's leading receiver last year while waiting his turn to start under center, leads the NEFC in pass efficiency (207.4) and ranks among the conference leaders in scoring (sixth with 6.9 points/game), passing yards (eighth with 144.9 yards/game), and total offense (fourth with 208.4 yards per game). He has completed 51-of-86 passes on the season (59.3 percent) for 1014 yards and 14 touchdowns with just two interceptions. Brooks is also second on the team in rushing with 445 yards (4.0 avg.) and eight TDs.
The Panthers, 6-1 overall, will visit Curry College this Saturday for what will likely determine the Boyd Division regular season title. PSU and Curry (5-2 overall) are tied for first place in the Boyd Division with 4-0 marks.
