PSU Football player named to NEFC Weekly Honor Roll
Brooks accounts for three TDs in Panther victory
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The quarterback on the
Plymouth State University football team was honored by the New
England Football Conference Monday for his performance in last
Saturday’s decisive Boyd Division victory over the University
of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
Senior quarterback J.J. Brooks (Seabrook, N.H./Winnacunnet) was named to the NEFC Weekly Honor Roll for the first time this season. He led the Panthers to a 33-9 victory over the Corsairs after PSU raced out to a 33-0 halftime lead. Brooks is no stranger to NEFC weekly honors, having been on the receiving end six times last season.
A 6'1", 210-pound co-captain, Brooks (right) accounted for
three touchdowns and 173 yards of total offense Saturday. He
rushed for a pair of first-half touchdowns (5 and 9 yards) and
threw a 65-yard TD pass to classmate John Creamer
(Hanover, Mass.). Brooks completed 3-of-4 passes on the day
for 128 yards and a touchdown (one INT) and he rushed 11 times for
45 yards (4.1 avg.) and two scores.
A Second Team All-NEFC pick in 2009, Brooks has rushed for 153 yards and two touchdowns in PSU’s first four games. He has thrown just 37 passes, completing 16 for 304 yards and two TDs and three interceptions.
The Panthers, 3-1 overall and ranked 10th in the New England Division III poll, play at home this Saturday against Nichols College (2:00 p.m.) in the 40th anniversary of varsity football at Plymouth State.
