Another NEFC honor for PSU Football player
Castellucci returns to NEFC Weekly Honor Roll
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The middle linebacker on the Plymouth State University football team has been honored by the New England Football Conference for the third time in five weeks, recognizing his performance in last Saturday's shutout victory over Nichols College.
Senior linebacker Brian Castellucci (Derry, N.H./Pinkerton) was named to the NEFC Weekly Honor Roll on Monday. He led the Panthers to a 17-0 whitewash over Nichols last Saturday in an NEFC Boyd Division clash as PSU celebrated Homecoming and the 40th Anniversary of Plymouth State varsity football.
A 5'10", 204-pound co-captain, Castellucci (right) led Plymouth State's defense in the shutout as the Panthers limited the Bison to 127 total yards on 50 plays. Castellucci made 11 tackles (6 solo, 5 assts.), including one tackle for loss, as PSU posted its second shutout in the last three games. Nichols had fewer than 100 total yards until gaining 41 on its last drive in the fourth quarter.
A First Team All-NEFC pick in 2009, Castellucci was also an NEFC Honor Roll selection on Sept. 6 and Sept. 20 of this season after Panther victories over Castleton State College and Bridgewater State University. He ranks eighth in the 16-team NEFC with 8.8 tackles per game.
The Panthers, 4-1 overall, 2-0 in the Boyd Division and tied for seventh in the New England Division III poll, travel to Cambridge, Mass., this Saturday for a 2:00 p.m. kick-off at MIT.
