PSU Football player receives NEFC recognition
LaBreck makes most of defensive debut for Panthers
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – A sophomore defensive
lineman on the Plymouth State University football team was
recognized by the New England Football Conference Monday for his
performance in last Saturday's 21-7 NEFC victory over MIT.
Sophomore Peter LaBreck (Thornton, N.H./Plymouth Regional) was named to the NEFC Weekly Honor Roll on Monday. LaBreck was a reserve offensive lineman until last week when he moved to the other side of the ball due to injuries to some of his teammates. He made the most of his opportunity in the win over MIT.
A 5'11", 241-pound lineman, LaBreck (right) led the
Panthers with nine tackles, including three solo stops and one for
minus yardage, as PSU held MIT to 69 rushing yards and 178 total
yards. He also made a huge play early in the third quarter
with the game tied at 7-7; he forced an MIT fumble on a running
play, and picked up the football and raced 48 yards for a
touchdown, giving PSU the lead it never relinquished.
LaBreck saw action in just six games as a reserve last year, and had played in only two contests this season.
The Panthers, ranked seventh in the New England Division III poll, are home this Saturday against Endicott College, which is ranked fourth in the same poll. The game is pivotal in the NEFC Boyd Division as both teams are tied with Western New England College with 5-1 overall records and in first place in the division with 3-0 marks.
