Long makes third appearance on Weekly Honor Roll
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The leading rusher on the Plymouth State University football team was honored by the New England Football Conference Monday for his performance in last Saturday's 14-6 setback to Western New England College.
Sophomore Ty Long (Dover, N.H./Dover) was named to the NEFC Weekly Honor Roll on Monday, his third appearance of the season on the list. He was also recognized twice last month after strong performances against Castleton and Mount Ida College.
A 5'8", 178-pound tail back, Long (right) recorded a career-high 32 carries for 127 yards (4.0 avg.) against WNEC, which was one yard shy of his career best. He also caught one pass for 6 yards to finish with 133 all-purpose yards.
Long, the 2009 Boyd Division Rookie of the Year, ranks among the NEFC leaders again this season in rushing with 694 yards in eight games (4.8 yards per carry) and all-purpose yards with 874 (109 per game).
The Panthers, 6-2 overall, 4-1 in the Boyd Division and ranked ninth in the New England Division III poll, make their final road trip of the regular season this Saturday with a visit to Salve Regina University for a 12 noon kick-off.
