PSU Football players named to NEFC Honor Roll
Foglia, Montegari earn weekly recognition for Panthers
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Two members of the Plymouth State University football team were named to the New England Football Conference Weekly Honor Roll Monday for their performances in last Saturday's 27-10 setback to Endicott College.
Senior running back Andrew Foglia (Montauk, N.Y./East Hampton) and senior defensive back Louis Montegari (Wanaque, N.J./Lakeland Regional) were PSU's representatives on this week's honor roll. Foglia was recognized for the second time this season and the seventh time in his career, while Montegari is honored for the first time in his career.
A 6'1", 215-pound halfback, Foglia rushed for 114 yards on 23 carries (5.0 avg.) and one touchdown. The TD, his fourth of the season, came from seven yards out on the second play of the second quarter and put the Panthers ahead, 10-3. Foglia has two 100-yard rushing games this season and has gained at least 90 yards five times in seven games.
Foglia is the leading rusher on a Panther team that ranks sixth out of 16 teams in the NEFC in rushing offense (187 yards per game). He ranks second in the conference in rushing individually, averaging 92.6 yards per contest.
A 5'10", 184-pound safety, Montegari anchored a Panther defense that held Endicott to 10 points below its average. He made eight total tackles, including six solo stops and one tackle for minus yardage. Montegari also was credited with a pass break-up and forcing a fumble.
The Panthers, 2-5 overall and 1-3 in conference play, are home again this Saturday, hosting Western New England University at 1:00 p.m. at Currier Field.
