Smith named New England Special Teams Player of the Week
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Two days after being named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Special Teams Player of the Week, a member of the Plymouth State University football team received a similar honor Tuesday from the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC).
Junior Chris Smith (Merrimack, N.H.) was named ECAC Division III New England Special Teams Player of the Week. He averaged 46.5 yards on four kickoffs, including an 80-yard sprint for a touchdown. He had a 44-yard return into BSU territory in the first quarter that set up PSU's first touchdown and a 36-yarder in the second period to give the Panthers good field position. Smith also handled PSU's punting duties against the Bears, averaging 34 yards on his three boots, and collected five tackles and a pass break-up on defense.
