Drumgole selected Rookie of the Week for big game at Mass. Maritime
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – A rookie wide receiver on the Plymouth State University football team was honored Monday with recognition from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) for his performance in PSU's game last Saturday.
Freshman Brandonn Drumgole (Mt. Sania, N.Y.) was selected MASCAC Rookie of the Week for the Panthers. He exploded for a big game for PSU last Saturday in a loss at Massachusetts Maritime Academy as the Panther offense rolled up 463 yards, the most in a game in two years (since gaining 518 yards at Mass. Maritime on Nov. 9, 2013).
A 6-1, 188-pound receiver and kick returner, Drumgole caught a season-high eight passes for a season-best 172 yards (21.5 yards average) and one touchdown against Mass. Maritime. He scored PSU's first TD late in the first quarter to put the Panthers on the scoreboard, trailing 13-6. The rookie also gained 69 yards on five kickoff returns, including a long of 29 yards that set up a Plymouth State touchdown.
Drumgole has taken over the team lead for the season with 34 receptions for 389 yards and two touchdowns. He ranks tied for 16th in the MASCAC in receptions and 19th in receiving yards. Drumgole also averages 18.9 yards per kickoff return and completed a pass for 59 yards in a game against Worcester State.
The Panthers, 2-7 overall and 1-6 in the conference, wraps up the season this Saturday with a MASCAC road game at Fitchburg State University (3:00 p.m.)
