Panthers climb to seventh in East Region
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The second NCAA Division III Football regional rankings have been released and Plymouth State University has moved up two spots into the seventh in the East Region.
The Panthers (9-1) took advantage of losses by Union and Western Connecticut last Saturday to move up in the rankings.
The top six spots were unchanged from last week with the three undefeated teams, Delaware Valley University (Penn.), SUNY Brockport and Springfield College, taking the top three slots. Wesley College (Del.), Frostburg State (Md.) and Husson University maintained their hold on the fourth through sixth spots. Plymouth State moved into seventh, with MASCAC foe Framingham State taking eighth. Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Western New England took the last two spots.
The Panthers are on a bye week this Saturday.
Last week's 24-7 win over Fitchburg State, coupled with Framingham's victory over WCSU, sealed PSU's first MASCAC title and earned the program its fifth appearance in the NCAA Tournament, and first since 2008. Plymouth State will learn its seeding and opponent for the NCAA Tournament during the NCAA Division III Football Selection Show, which will air on NCAA.com on Sunday (Nov. 12) at 5:30 p.m.
