PSU Football player earns a pair of major weekly honors

Salazar selected Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week

            PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The top defensive player for Plymouth State University in Saturday's 10-7, last-second win over Westfield State University has been selected for a pair of Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) weekly honors.

            Freshman David Salazar (West Newton, Mass.) was chosen by the conference office as the MASCAC Football Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week, presented by Geico.

            A 6-0 defensive back, Salazar had a career day against the Owls. He led all players with a career-high 14 tackles, including a career-best nine solo tackles. He added two forced fumbles and one tackle for a loss of eight yards on the day.

            It is the first weekly honor of his career and the first major weekly honor for a Plymouth State footballer this season.

            PSU (5-3, 4-3 MASCAC) wraps up the season with a pair of home contests starting with the MASCAC finale this Saturday (Nov. 3) against Fitchburg State. Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m.
