PSU Football player earns MASCAC recognition

Hamilton named to Weekly Honor Roll following opener

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The top running back from the Plymouth State University football team earned Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) recognition following a stellar performance in the season opener on Saturday.

Senior David Hamilton (West Deptford, N.J.) was named to the MASCAC Football Weekly Honor Roll after rushing for a new career high to lead the Panthers to a 23-17 win at Castleton University.

Hamilton rushed 18 times for a personal-best 146 yards (8.1 yards/carry) and scored a pair of touchdowns to lead PSU to its fourth-straight opening day win. With the Panthers trailing 7-0, Hamilton converted a fourth-and-one, then pushed the pile into the end zone from two yards out to even the game.

His back-to-back runs of 34 and 22 yards jump started Plymouth State's opening drive of the second half. The drive resulted in a touchdown, giving PSU a 17-10 lead. Then, with the game tied at 17-17 in the fourth quarter, Hamilton found the end zone from two yards out to secure the win.

It was his sixth career 100-yard rushing game and his second highest yards per carry average.

Plymouth State (1-0) opens its home schedule on Saturday (Sept. 14) with a 1:00 p.m. kickoff against Maine Maritime.
