Tosone chosen to represent Panthers
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Plymouth State University junior Matt Tosone (Walpole, Mass.) was one of 56 student-athletes recognized for their outstanding sportsmanship as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) announced its 2019 Fall Sportsmanship Team.
Tosone was selected as the Plymouth State football representative. The MASCAC Sportsmanship Team is intended to recognize one student-athlete from each team in every sport that best demonstrates the values of the MASCAC and its Sportsmanship Statement.
A 5-7, 172-pound defensive back, Tosone appeared in all ten games for the Panthers. His 61 tackles were the third most on the team, while his 39 solo stops were the second most. He closed the season with his best two games of the year, tallying 13 tackles (10 solo), a forced fumble and pass breakup at Bridgewater State on Nov. 2, then adding 11 tackles (5 solo) and a pass breakup in the season finale at WestConn on Nov. 16.
Led by 17-year head coach Paul Castonia the Panthers went 6-4 overall to finish above .500 for the fourth straight year, while posting a 4-4 mark in MASCAC play.
