Panther GK Named LEC Player of the Week
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - With field hockey in its first season as an official Little East Conference sport, the LEC has named a Plymouth State College goalkeeper as its first Player of the Week.
Freshman goalkeeper Martha Dennerly (Concord, NH) is the first recipient of the LEC's top weekly honor. She posted a shutout in her first career start, blanking UMass Lowell 2-0 in PSC's opener last week, and allowed just one goal while playing only the second half in a 3-1 Panther loss at Springfield. Dennerly made 10 saves and allowed one goal in 105 minutes for a 0.67 goals against average.
The Panthers are off to a 1-1 start under first-year coach Abby Burbank. PSC has only two of 11 starters in the line-up from last year's team, which finished with a 16-5 record. After a tough road game Tuesday (Sept. 15) at Colby College, PSC travels to New York this weekend (Sept. 19-20) for a tournament at Cortland State, where it will face Ohio Wesleyan and Cortland. The home opener for PSC is next Tuesday (Sept. 22) at Arold Field against New England College (4:00 p.m.).
