PSC back to .500 with third straight win

 HARTFORD, Conn. - Junior Megan Fournier (East Waterboro, Maine) and senior tri-captain Kara Borden (Taunton, Mass.) each scored first half goals Thursday to lead the visiting Plymouth State College field hockey team to a 2-0 win over the Trinity College Bantams.

The Panthers improve to 3-3 on the season after three consecutive victories, while Trinity falls to 1-3 with its third straight loss. Fournier scored on PSC's first shot of the game with 27:54 remaining in the first half. Borden scored on a pass from senior Courtney O'Sullivan (East Kingston, NH) with just nine seconds left in the opening half.

Panther freshman goalkeeper Ellen Ward (Thorndike, Maine) stopped 10 shots, including seven in the first half, to record her first career shutout. Trinity freshman Gwen Gillespie (Gates Mills, Ohio) made three saves. Trinity outshot Plymouth State, 12-5.

 PSC is back in action Saturday (Sept. 23) with a big Little East Conference affair against arch-rival and defending LEC champion Keene State (1 p.m.)
