PSC's Tarpy named LEC Co-Player of the Week

PLYMOUTH, N.H. - One of the senior tri-captains on the Plymouth State College field hockey team has been honored by the Little East Conference for her performance in three games last week.

Senior Kerri Tarpy (Biddeford, Maine) was selected LEC Co-Player of the Week after scoring four goals for PSC in three games last week. She is the second player to receive the honor this season for the first-place Panthers, joining junior Megan Fournier (East Waterboro, Maine), who was selected two weeks ago.

A 5'5" midfielder who started the season as a defensive player, Tarpy recorded a natural hat trick last Tuesday in a 4-0 victory over LEC foe Salem State. She came back with a goal and assist in Saturday's 3-0 conference win at Bridgewater State, taking over the team scoring lead with five goals and two assists on the season. Tarpy was instrumental in helping the Panthers to a 3-0 week, including Sunday's 2-0 shutout at Bryant. PSC, 8-3 overall, has won eight consecutive games after starting the season at 0-3, and sits atop the LEC standings with a 6-0 mark. The Player of the Week honor was shared this week between Tarpy and Keene State senior Carrie Trudeau, who tallied three goals and three assists in a 3-0 week for the Owls.

PSC plays a home conference game Tuesday (Oct. 10) at Arold Field against Framingham State (4:30 p.m.), and travels to Eastern Connecticut Saturday (Oct. 14) for another LEC match-up (2 p.m.).
