PSC wraps up perfect LEC campaign
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Junior Megan Fournier (East Waterboro, ME) notched her second hat trick of the season Saturday to lead the Plymouth State College field hockey team to a 4-1 victory over Worcester State College in a Little East Conference game at Arold Field.
PSC is on a 13-game winning streak to improve to 13-3 overall, with just one non-conference game left in the regular season. The Panthers' 10-0 record in the LEC gives them first place, while Worcester State drops to 6-9 overall and 5-6 in the LEC.
Fournier scored all three goals in the first half, receiving two assists from classmate Danielle Cardin (Southampton, NH) and another assist from senior Courtney O'Sullivan (East Kingston, NH). Scoring the Panthers' fourth goal was senior Kerri Tarpy (Biddeford, ME), assisted by junior Sacha Jackson (Sangerville, ME). Fournier and Tarpy are tied for the team scoring lead this season with eight goals apiece. Scoring the Lancer's lone goal was sophomore Sarah Hann (Blackstone, MA).
Worcester goaltender Alisha Bates (Palmer, MA) was called upon to make three saves and Plymouth State goaltender Ellen Ward (Thorndike, ME) was uncontested. PSC had 21 shots on goal and WC had three.
The Panthers complete the regular season Sunday (Oct. 22) at St. Michael's at 2 p.m. PSC will receive a first round bye in the LEC tournament, and will host the LEC semi-finals and final next Friday (Oct. 27) and Saturday (Oct. 28 at Arold Field.
