PLYMOUTH, N.H. - The center-midfielder on the Plymouth State College field hockey team has been honored by the Little East Conference for her performance in four games last week.
Junior Megan Fournier (East Waterboro, Maine), who was selected LEC Player of the Week once last month, was a member of this week's LEC Weekly Honor Roll. She was instrumental in helping PSC clinch a perfect conference regular season and earn the top seed in this week's LEC Tournament.
A 5'8" junior, Fournier notched her second career hat trick last Saturday in a 4-1 victory over Worcester State that clinched a 10-0 LEC record this season for the Panthers. She also helped PSC to a 1-0 conference win over Fitchburg State last Tuesday and a non-conference 2-1 double overtime triumph over New England College on Thursday. Playing their fourth game in six days, the Panthers had their 13-game winning streak stopped Sunday in the regular season finale at St. Michael's College, a team that matched its school record with 13 wins.
By winning the LEC regular season title, PSC (13-4) receives a bye in Tuesday's LEC quarterfinal round. The Panthers will host the LEC semi-finals and final at Arold Field on Friday and Saturday (Oct. 27-28). Friday's games will begin at 12 noon and 2:30 p.m., with the title game slated for 12 noon on Saturday. Tournament pairing will be announced following Tuesday's quarterfinal action.
