Panthers extend winning streak to six
FRAMINGHAM, Mass. - Plymouth State College extended its field hockey winning streak to six games Monday, shutting out Framingham State 2-0 in a Little East Conference game.
The Panthers, who are in first place in the LEC, improve to 9-4 overall and 6-1 in conference play. Framingham State is now 3-9 overall and 1-6 in the conference.
Senior Megan Fournier (East Waterboro, Maine) put the Panthers on the scoreboard with just over 15 minutes left in the opening half, scoring her fifth goal of the season. PSC added an insurance marker with 28 minutes to play in the second half, when senior Danielle Cardin (South Hampton, N.H.) scored her second goal in as many games, with junior Katie Dodge (Sanbornton, N.H.) assisting.
Plymouth State had a 16-9 advantage in shots on goal. Panther sophomore keeper Ellen Ward (Thorndike, Maine) made seven saves to earn her third shutout of the season and the 12th of her career. Framingham State's Megan Johnson also made seven saves.
Plymouth State returns home to host Eastern Connecticut on Saturday (Oct. 13) in a Little East Conference contest at Arold Field (2:00 p.m.). The Warriors are in third place in the LEC at 5-2, a game back of PSC.
