PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Three Plymouth State College student-athletes have been recognized by the Little East Conference for their performances in the final week of the regular season, as one Panther received the LEC's top offensive weekly honor and two freshmen were named the LEC's top rookies.
Senior Katie Dodge (Sanbornton, N.H.) was selected LEC Offensive Player of the Week in field hockey, and freshman Lilly Silva (Lowell, Mass.) was picked as Field Hockey Rookie of the Week. In addition, freshman Koichi Nakatsubo (Franklin, N.H.) was chosen Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week.
A senior co-captain, Dodge finished PSC's 3-0 week with three goals and one assist. She improved her season totals to five goals and eight assists, which is second in the conference in assists. Dodge set up PSC's first goal in a 2-1 win over nationally-ranked New England College, scored the game-winning tally in a 4-1 conference win at Fitchburg State, and added a pair of insurance goals in a 6-1 win over Framingham State.
A freshman midfielder, Silva came off the Panther bench to score three goals last week, including a pair of game-winners. She notched the game-winning goal in the defeat over nationally-ranked NEC, and added PSC's first two scores in the 6-1 win over Framingham. Silva is third on the team in scoring with eight goals and two assists.
A freshman forward, Nakatsubo came off the bench to score the only goal with two minutes remaining to lift PSC to a 1-0 triumph over UMass Dartmouth and allow the Panthers to clinch the number-two seed in this week's LEC Tournament. It was the second goal of the season for Nakatsubo, who also had a game-tying goal against Bates College a month ago.
