Three PSU Student-Athletes recognized by Little East Conference
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Three Plymouth State University student-athletes received weekly recognition from the Little East Conference Monday for their efforts in Panther contests last week.
Sophomore Bryan Biederman (Holderness, N.H./Plymouth Regional H.S.) was named LEC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, and two field hockey players, sophomore Christina Farias (East Dennis, Mass.) and freshman Amy McGrath (Townsend, Mass.), were named Offensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively.
PSU’s starting center-back, Biederman played strong defense
that led to back-to-back Panther shutouts over Bridgewater State
(2-0) and UMass Dartmouth (1-0 in OT). The Panther defense
surrendered only two goals in over 280 minutes of soccer during the
week, with both goals allowed coming against nationally-ranked
Bowdoin College (2-0). The Panthers, who are off to a 5-1-0 start
to the season, have given up only three goals in six contests while
scoring 11.

Farias (far left) and

team to a pair of victories last week, a 5-1 LEC win over UMass
Dartmouth and a 5-4 non-conference triumph over Bates College.
Farias tallied one assist in the win vs. UMD, and scored two goals
in the victory over Bates. McGrath played strong defense in both
contests, helping the Panthers stifle the Corsairs, who were unable
to get a shot on goal in the second half of Saturday’s
contest. Farias and McGrath have helped PSU to a 4-1 start to the
season, outscoring its opponents 26-10.
