Little East Conference recognizes PSU student-athletes with weekly honors
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - The Little East Conference recognized two Plymouth State University student-athletes Monday for their achievements in Panther athletic contests last week.
Senior Brad Wyman (Durham, N.H.) was named LEC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while junior Laurie Allinson (Berwick, Maine) was selected the LEC Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week. It is the first career weekly honor for both Panther individuals.
A 6'2", 180-pound midfielder, Wyman (left) scored both
Panther goals last week, including one game-winner, leading the
team to a 1-0-1 record. He scored in the first half Wednesday
against Tufts to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead in what turned out to
be a 1-1 overtime tie, and he tallied the only goal of the game
Saturday in the 79th minute as PSU blanked LEC foe Western
Connecticut, 1-0.
Wyman, who has played in only eight of PSU's 12 games due to injury, is now second on the team in scoring with four goals and one assist.

A 5'8" junior sweeper, Allinson (right) led a strong
defensive effort in PSU's only game as the Panthers defeated
Bridgewater State last Saturday in overtime, 2-1. Allinson helped
the Panthers limit BSC to six shots and only one goal. In addition
to her outstanding defense, she assisted on the game-winning score
in overtime.
Allinson, who has started every game this season and 52 out of 53 contests in her career, anchors a Panther defense that has allowed only five goals in the last six games. Both Panther teams continue to challenge for the top spots in the conference. The PSU men's soccer team, 9-1-2 overall and ranked eighth in New England, went into Monday's make-up game at Southern Maine tied for second place in the LEC, one-half game behind RIC. The PSU field hockey team entered a Monday make-up game against Salem State in second place in the LEC with a 6-1 mark (9-3 overall), one-half game behind first-place Fitchburg State. The Panthers visit Fitchburg State for a showdown this Wednesday evening (7:00 p.m.)
