PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Five members of the Plymouth State University field hockey team have been recognized with national academic honors from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA).
The Panthers were named to the NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad, which recognizes student-athletes who have achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 through the first semester of the 2009-10 academic year. In addition, Plymouth State was one of 95 Division III field hockey programs to receive the NFHCA Academic Team Award for having a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.
The student-athletes representing Plymouth State on the team are seniors Morgan Lemmon (Gilford, N.H./Bishop Brady) and Lindsey Hiltz (Manchester, N.H./West), sophomores Lauren Bergeron (New Hampton, N.H./Newfound) and Brittany Treichel (Clinton, Conn./Morgan School), and freshman Hannah Sawyer (Kingston, N.H./Sanborn Regional). Lemmon is a four-year member of the National Academic Squad, while Hiltz, Bergeron and Treichel are repeat members of the team.
Plymouth State advanced to the post-season in 2009 for the ninth time in the last 10 seasons, finishing with a 12-9 overall record and advancing to the ECAC New England Tournament championship game for the second straight season.
